That's not an Auntie June Word

My Mam was very particular when we were growing up. We weren't allowed to swear, and this felt pretty reasonable. However, there were other words that were no-nos. This included, arse, willy, bum, and quite a few more. Anything with the merest hint of crude language was disallowed.

When Mam became a childminder, she was known as 'Auntie June' to all of the children, and even some of the parents. The children had to follow the crude language rule.  If a child made a mistake, my Mam would put on a serious expression and say, "That not an Auntie June word." The child would invariably lower their head and mumble 'Sorry'.

One day Callum said a 'rude' word, and my Mam told him
"That not an Auntie June word."  He apologised and they moved on. Five minutes later, Mam asked  if he had any homework. Callum looked so shocked and exclaimed, "Auntie June! That is NOT a Callum word." He walked away and started playing in the garden.
